Sustainable Living: Growing your own food

Instead of complaining about the rapidly growing price of basic commodities, especially food, why not start planting your own garden. Not only you’ll have a steady supply of nutritious food, but you also reduce dependency on purchasing groceries.

Why go to market if you can have them in your backyard.

No land? No problem. Start planting on pots and put it inside your toilet. I remember growing lettuce plants inside our toilet back in the Middle East, not because of scarcity of space but it’s scorchingly hot outside. The point is, you can plant in pots and put them in places such as your windowsill or hang them. I had met a couple who turn their rooftop into a hydroponic garden. Not only that, but it also become another source of funds.

A good potting mix is the key to a healthy plant.

By growing your own food, you reduce expenses on foods, and you can put those savings on healthcare and education, plus, you can always sell the excess or exchange it with other things such as fish, detergent, oil, etc.

Since there is egg shortage, I decided to grow it in my backyard.
